Evaluating Case Studies

GLT: Evaluate the use of case studies in qualitative research  

Here is a document that has links to information about 5 different famous  case studies. We will use this in class to learn about case study methodology.

Basically, in order to evaluate the use of case studies, you need to be able to:

• Define the term “case study”
• Describe how case studies are conducted (i.e. how researchers gather data using a case study approach)
• Explain why case studies are used (e.g. provide reasons as to why and when they’re a useful method)(these are essentially the strengths of the case study method)
• Explain limitations of the case study method.
